Camping in Florida

Camping out is a great way to keep travel costs down. However, it is a challenge to find a campground that accepts tents. What is up with that?

Entering Florida

Kramer liked the Blue Angels sculpture at the rest stop and welcome center.

Lunch in the Big Easy

Lunch in New Orleans is always a fun diversion.

Onions on I-10 in Louisiana

While traveling to the east coast, I saw a truck load of onions. I have never seen so many onions in one place! Oh my gosh!

Going to the Movies

Before Nick had to go home, we took him to see Skinny Ginny, aka Ella S. Flaca, staring in Psycho!

My Lousy Summer Vacation part 15

We got to camp at the big summer party and had a great view of the campfire from our tent!

On this evening we visited the Blue Moose Bar and Grill
because my person's niece is the manager.
See her pose with us?

Much later that same day, we make it back to the house in Lone Star. What a day!

Well, we finally arrive and are disappointed to realize the equipment is HUGE! We try really hard to get up the ladder to no avail. So we sit in the shade and have our lunch.

Almost there and we find this wonderful fire pit. It is some big fun climbing on the rocks!

The tall grass is another hurdle for us.
We get a ways on, pause by a bit of shade and think about turning back. We decide that we must be half way there so we continue on.

So the next day Kramer packs a lunch and we set off to the playground.
The first hurdle to overcome is getting down the stairs. Nick is not used to such trials and we have to help him a lot.
The sidewalk is long, but easier.
We have to be very careful of the cars as we cross the road. But we make it eventually. Oh and it is so hot!

When we arrived in Lone Star, KS, we were glad to sit on the porch and plan a trip across the street to play at the play ground equipment, which looked to be just our size!

The next 48 hours did not provide any good photo opps. We left OK for MO and encountered bad weather. The straight line winds in Drexel, MO were enough to flatten the grass! My person's big brother lives in Drexel, MO. It was a scary scene. We decided to move on. We went to my person's son's home in KS.

Here is a picture inside the doll shop in Edmond, OK where Kramer bought Nick his cool shorts outfit! It is called, appropriately enough, The Doll House!

Back in the boat to go back to the car. More sites to see. Apparently, if you make a reservation, you can charter a boat and have adult libations!

My lousey Summer Vacation part 4

We got off the boat to eat at Toby Keith's bar and Grill! Yummy onion rings! They had jalapeno slivers hidden in the stack, watch out!

Some sites on the river.

After the Memorial, we road in a little boat in Brick Town. See how much fun this is? The cameraman may need further instructions.

My Lousy 2009 Summer Vacation part 1

We went for our first outing to the Alfred P Murrah building memorial site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was a sad place. They have a museum that is also sad.

Visiting The Woodlands Ginnys part 4

Maybe I should spend my time with the dog...

Visiting The Woodlands Ginnys part 3

It is now clear to me why you have to keep an eye on those Imps!

Visiting The Woodlands Ginnys part 2

Some of the Vogue doll family includes "Imps" and "Brikette". Hmm, Nick is turning out to be quite popular with the ladies.....

Visiting The Woodlands Ginnys part 1

Then we went to The Woodlands, TX to see friends who are Ginnys also. They have been around since the 1950's and are very very minty! Here, Nick is getting to know one of the beautiful Bon Bon Ginnys. I felt a tinge of jealousy here.....

Visiting Texas City, TX part 4

And this great cat art work hanging on the wall! Oh we could see the whole yard from up here!

She also had this WONDERFUL secret place to sit and
enjoy the great yard! It was like a little room for us!

.
The first little trip we took him on, was to visit a friend in
Texas City, where he and I got to see the duranta flowers
among others in her back yard.
